From: PASSINGS OF SUBUD FRIENDS Lusana Faliks Our beloved sister Lusana Faliks past away peacefully March 3,2005. Lusana was born 1919. She was married to Leopold Faliks in 1942. Together they had two children Waqidi Falicoff and Rosada Russell. Lusana was one of the first Subud members being opened in 1959. She attended the 1963 Briarcliff congress in upstate New York--the first Subud congress. Lusana’s husband Leopold died in 1967 during a house fire and when Lusana asked Bapak what she and her two chil-dren should do, he wrote that she should come to Indonesia and live near them in the Subud compound. Lusana then lived many years being close friends with Bapak and his second wife, Ibu. In 1978 Lusana had a horrible car accident in Indonesia. After several reconstruction surgeries she was put into a nursing home in Sonoma County,California and was expected never to walk or use her right arm again. One year later, she was walking and using her right arm. She then moved out of the residential home she had been living in and into her own apartment, near her daughter Rosada Russell who hired a male nurse to help take care of her. The two of them fell in love and eleven years after her husband’s death, Lusana became partners with Hyam Glick-man. They traveled around the world together over the next 17 years. Thank God for the latihan, for guiding Lusana to Subud, for the many years we shared each others lives and stories, and for guiding our sister Lu-sana now on her journey to a new life beyond this world.
